The Unicoi County School System, with a current enrollment exceeding 2,500 students, offers four elementary schools, one middle school and one comprehensive high school featuring a comprehensive educational curriculum, including a Career Technical Vocational Program. Each school within the system has earned accreditation from the Southern Association of Schools and Colleges. Unicoi County’s educational facilities employ innovative programs and initiatives to confront the challenges of educating both children and adults in a new millennium. The Unicoi County Community Learning Center offers extended educational opportunities to residents, including: Even Start Family Literacy, a program designed to collaboratively provide quality child care, parent-education resources and support for Adult Basic Education initiatives; two at-risk preschool classrooms, funded through the Tennessee Department of Education; Adult Basic Education, working to increase adult literacy rates, supporting English as a Second Language (ESL), and helping adults to obtain GEDs and attain additional educational goals; and an Inclusive Preschool Classroom serving children with identified special needs.
