Erwin Fishery Park
The park, surrounded by the stunning scenery of the Unaka Mountains, features hiking trails, a pond and restored wetland, basketball and tennis courts, covered pavilions, picnic tables, playground facilities, swimming pool and the most recent extension of Erwin’s award-winning Linear Trail. Families can gather for a simple picnic or even an extended family reunion at Erwin Fishery Park.
Gathering Place Park
The Gathering Place Park, one of Unicoi County’s newest parks, is located on South Main Avenue between Plant Palace Florist and Gifts and Keesecker Appliance. The park contains umbrella-covered tables and chairs and features a large stage. The Gathering Place Park is perfect for a small picnic lunch or community-wide evening concert.
Erwin Veteran’s Memorial Park
The Veteran’s Memorial Park, another new addition to Unicoi County, features a covered pavilion with picnic tables perfect for family gatherings. The park also displays monuments honoring Unicoi County’s soldiers.
Erwin Linear Trail
The Erwin Linear Trail runs parallel to I-26 along North Indian Creek and the Nolichucky River waterways in Erwin. Designed to simultaneously protect and enhance the environment, while providing recreational space, the paved trails meander through, around and over woodlands, natural ponds and wetlands to create spectacular opportunities for recreation, fishing and instruction for local school programs. The trails entice hikers, dog walkers, bicyclers, joggers, adults, children and families from the entire region both day and night. In addition, the park creates a breathtaking ambience for arts and crafts shows, outdoor concerts and other events, and offers amenities such as night lighting, restrooms, benches, fishing docks and a family-friendly atmosphere.
Rock Creek Park
The park offers both day-use and extended stay opportunities for visitors. Rock Creek Park offers short hiking trails, scattered picnic tables, a swimming pool, a bike trail and an amphitheater. The park also offers modern camping accomodations in a beautiful cove at the foot of Unaka Mountain. It contains 36 campsites, some group camping. Fourteen of the sites have electrical hookups and are suitable for vehicles up to 35′ in length.
Limestone Cove Campground
Limestone Cove Campground and Park, located along Indian Creek, features 18 campsites with tent pads, lantern posts, picnic tables and grills.
Chestoa Recreation Area
The Chestoa Recreation Area, located along the banks of the mighty Nolichucky River, has 10 picnic tables, grills, changing rooms and a vault toilet. There are two short foot trails and a sandy area for wading along the river. Shoals just upstream and downstream are popular fishing spots.
