Manufacturing Industries

Unicoi County has long been, as it remains, a vibrant center of industry.  Already home to major industrial facilities and a growing retail corridor, the past decade has seen eight new plant locations, with a total investment of 43 million dollars.  Another 34 expansions represent an additional investment of 90 million dollars.

Our early railroad roots pioneered a continuing regional distribution role for products as diverse as industrial goods, agricultural products, timber and raw materials.  Interstate-26 has further increased those distribution options – and opportunities.

Unicoi County is already home to several high technology specialized industries, including nuclear fuel manufacturing, plastic and injection molding, metal fabricating and ball and roller bearings, among others.
